National Conference on Indian Business World : Challenges and Opportunities held on 2-3 Sept. 2016

Department of Business Studies, The IIS University Jaipur Organized the two National Conference on the theme Indian Business World: Challenges & Opportunities. The two days long national conference included four technical sessions to give enough focus on different thoughts and views. There were 247 registrations and these researchers contributed their papers on the conference themes.

The motive of the conference was to give equal opportunities to all commerce & management students, academic researches and other experts for discussion on the profilic areas allied to different arenas of Indian Business World.

Saraswati Vandana along with lamp lighting gave an auspicious start to the National conference. Dr. Ashok Gupta, Vice Chancellor, The IIS University welcomed all the guests and the delegates. He said that with the global markets opening up and impetus from government industrial policies India business are undergoing transformational changes.

He was confident that the deliberations at the conference will help us to discuss the various issues related with this regard and will benefit the academicians, researchers and faculty members at large.

The aims and objectives of the seminar were highlighted by Prof. M.K.Sharma, Dean, Faculty of Commerce and Management, The IIS University Jaipur. He believed that the conference will provide an opportunity to participants to upgrade their knowledge in the emerging areas of Indian Business World.

The keynote address was delivered by Mr. Kishore Chainani, Vice President, Banking & Financial Services, Genpact. Mr. Chainani talked about the ever evolving and challenging aspects of the Indian Business World.

The Souvenir of the conference was also released during the inaugural session. Dr. Sarabjeet Kaur Gogia, Convenor of the National Conference an Indian Business World delivered the vote of thanks.

The chairperson for the first technical session titled as General Management was Prof. Ravindra Vinayak. Prof. Ravindra Vinayak is the director of Delhi School of Professional Studies and Research New Delhi. In this session he threw light on the current prevailing issues related to               “ Highly Dynamic Environment and biggest challenges, idea innovation in market place.

The session was then carried by the first speaker named “Dr. Shweta Ahuliwalia”  Dr. Ahluwalia currently an entrepreneur of her newly started venture named as Champions of change. Acquainted the audience by throwing light on the topic “ Role of private Sector in India”. Her speech was backed by various facts and figures about industries including BPO, GST, Health Care, Retail and so on.     

The conference was further preceded by the second speaker “Ms. Oona Singh” Ms. Oona Singh is the founder and Owner of the venture called Suvasa. She startd her speech by acknowledging about the policies and regulations that she has incorporate at her own venture. She also mentioned about the main key points such as vision, team work, discipline, patience and “We” factor as the most important ingredients to run a successful business.

This session consisted of 5 presentations on topics such as CSR activities, Health care entrepreneurship development in India, Next generation’s jewelers plans and expectations and so on.

The session has helped the audience to gain insights on the various current issues prevailing in today business society.

The second technical session was devoted to marketing issues in Indian Business World. The session was chaired by Professor H.J. Ghosh Roy, retired from the M.D. University, Rohtak. He talked about ethical practices and focused on Giving First and Expecting Later.

First speaker of the session was Dr. Arvind Kalia, National Head-Mentoring, Patrika Group, Jaipur. He highlighted Fraudulent Practices in Online Business. He further discussed on issues related to ethics, Privacy etc. He warned all for comparing price, checking the data, before taking a decision to buy online. He also shared information regarding the data leak by companies and its consequences.

The second speaker was Dr. Pramod Paliwal, Professor, Central University of Gujarat, and Ahmadabad. He took the topic “Global Challenge of Fake Products”. He advocated for buying original products and advised for taking a bill in order to confirm the use of money in well being of people. He showed through some examples how companies make duplicate, pirated or first copies of products Dr. Paliwal also warned about the legalities associated with fake products.

The third speaker Professor Gurucharan Singh, Punjabi University, Patiala-                                                                                 opened up on opportunities in Indian Business World. He threw light on The Future Marketing (roles and trends) . He described innovations, future products, connectivity, digital marketing, social media use, etc. Sir also talked on the changing role of marketer.

The interactive sessions were followed by presentation made by students, research scholars and academicians. In all there were some 20 papers presented on topics varying from role of                 E-Commerce, Plastic money, branding, Consumer Behavior, Social Media Marketing, etc.

Theme of the III technical session was “Human Resource Management” Chairperson for the session was Prof. Uma Joshi, Dean, Faculty of Behavioral Sciences, Amity University Jaipur.

The first invited speaker of the session was Prof. Jyotsana D Mehta Director, Subodh Institute of Management and Career Students, Jaipur.

Prof. Jyotsana highlighted the main issues pertaining to “Work life balance”. She said that both too much and too little of stress is not desirable and not all stresses are bad. Second speaker of the session was Mr. Nipun Wadhwa, Senior manager, Jumio India Pvt. Ltd. Jaipur. His topic of presentation was “Performance Management-Grooming Quotient -“ He highlighted that grooming quotient is basically the combination of all 4Q’s- PQ, SQ,IQ, & EQ. Every individual has potential to perform various tasks. It is up to the organization how an individual can be groomed to the level which is required by the organization. The presentations of the invited speakers were followed by the oral presentations by the participants. In all eleven papers were presented.

The chairperson concluded the session by giving her valuable feedback on the papers presented by the participants.

The Technical Session IV was titled FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT . There was a chairperson, a coordinator, 2 speakers and 14 papers were presented at the conference. The session was chaired by Prof. Balwinder Singh, Associate Professor, Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar who addressed all the speakers and discussed about the issues related to financial marketing risk management and fix pricing.

Further continued by CA Prashant Somani (Speaker) Senior Manager, Genpact, Jaipur on the topic “ Exit of Britain from European Union – Brexit ”. He broke the discussion into three main segments. First session was about the introduction to European Union and the reasons for its formation. The second was about the reasons why Britain wants to leave the EU. And at last he discussed impact on India on the exit of Britain from EU.

Then followed by Mr. Vikrant Singhi (speaker) Associate Director, Equirus Capital, Mumbai who presented his presentation on the topic – “Business Cycle”.  He explained us the stages of business cycle i.e. Startup, Growth, Maturity and Rejuvenate.

At the end he concluded with the discussion of pros and cons of M & A.

The conference proceeded by the oral presentation where the participants were the research scholars, teachers and students who presented their papers during the session. In all 14 papers were presented in the session.

After the technical session IV, post lunch valedictory ceremony was there. Prof. B.S Rajpurohit  former vice chancellor, Jai Narayan University, Jodhpur was the Chief Guest for the ceremony. Dr. Aditi Jain, organizing secretary of the conference read the report of the two days. It was followed by awards to the best paper presenters in the four technical sessions. The Chief Guest delivered the valedictory address and motivated the students. He also praised the performance of the young students as paper presenters. In the end, vote of thanks was given by Dr. Ruchi Jain, organizing secretary of the conference. 

The conference came to end leaving fond memories in the minds of the guests and the delegates and a great sense of satisfaction and accomplishment for all the members of the faculty, staff and student volunteers who were associated with its preparations and organization over a couple of days.
