OBJECTIVE OF THE WORKSHOP/SEMINAR/ACTIVITY:To acquaint the students about the significant provisions and application of RTI to help improve governance.

The Department of Commerce(Discipline of Business Studies) organiseda Workshop on ‘Right to Information, 2005 – An Introduction to the Act and Filing an Effective RTI’ for the Semester II students of B.Com (H) and B.Com. (P) onWednesday, April 19, 2023 from 10:30 am to 1:30 pm in the Vinayak Hall, IISU Campus.
Dr.RoopaManglani, RTI Activist and Associate Professor, Govt. College,Kishanpol, Jaipur and Mr. ShailendraAgarwal,Deputy Editor Rajasthan Patrika, Jaipur who are experts in the respective field were invited as the Resource Persons.
The Workshop was instrumental in helping the students know about the essential provisions of this landmark legislation and how they can use it to bring a change in the society through seeking important information from the government department and agencies. The resource persons also demonstrated the filing of offline and online RTI applications and how to track the progress of their applications. Students were made to write some applications which were discussed by the experts. Real case studies were discussed by the resource persons.
In the end, queries of the students and faculty members were answered. E-certificates were also provided to the faculty and students for attending the session.
