Guest Lecture on “Sales as career in 2025”

A guest lecture was organized by Department of Business Studies on 24^TH August , 2016 in the A V Hall of The IIS University. The guest lecture was on the topic “Sales as career in 2025”and the speaker was Dr. A. K. Sharma , an expert from the field of marketing. The lecture was organized for the student of M.Com and B.Com honours (BSG, BSR) students.

In the beginning of the session, Head of the department of Business Studies Dr. Sarabjeet Kaur welcomed the guest with floral greeting and presented him a token of remembrance. Dr. Sharma started the lecture by highlighting the present scenario of sales job prevailing in today’s corporate world. He explained the importance of sales job in success of an organization. During the lecture students were also told about correct goal setting for success .The speaker told them to set “SMART” goals for achieving organizational as well as personal objectives. Sir made students aware of differences between dreams and goals. He said dreams are backbone for setting goals. Beyond setting SMART goals he suggested that for becoming good sales professional two basic features are required i.e. soft skills and positive attitude in an individual.

Towards the end he said that ample amount of job opportunities are available in the field of sales related to products as well as services , what is required to grab those opportunities is only the strong determination and right kind of attitude. Finally the guest interacted with the students and solved their queries. The entire session proved to be very beneficial for the students.
